한 연구에 따르면 집 안에 있는 식물은 집중력과 생산성을 최대 15% 높여주고

스트레스 해소에 도움을 주며, 기분을 좋게 만든다고 합니다.

하지만 한편으로는 저의 기분을 위해 식물을 들이고 이내 잘 키우지 못해 금방 죽이는 것이

저와 식물, 둘 다를 위해 과연 좋은 것일까? 라는 생각을 하게 되었습니다.

저처럼 식물과 함께하고 싶은데 할 수 없는 식물 킬러들을 위한 식물은 없는 걸까?

이러한 생각을 기반으로 한 이번 작업의 키워드는 "Lightless"입니다.

빛이 없어도 시들지 않는 식물이 있다면 어떨까요?

나아가 물, 흙, 바람 등 식물이 자라기 위해 꼭 필요한 것들 없이

오직 애정만으로 키울 수 있는 식물이 있다면 어떨까요?

작업 방법에 대해 알려주세요.

시간이 생길 때마다 다양한 소재를 찾아 관찰하고 연구합니다.

그리고 식물로 자랐을 때의 모습을 상상하며 스케치합니다.

소재에 맞는 방식으로 (뜨개질, 박음질 등) 오랫동안 모양을 만들어갑니다.

완성된 식물과 어울리는 화분, 돌을 찾아 작품을 완성합니다.

이 식물은 광합성을 하지 않습니다. (잎의 변색 등의 이유로 직사광선은 피해주세요) 물을 주지 않아도 됩니다.

양분을 제공하거나 분갈이 등은 필요치 않습니다.

다만 한 번씩 그 자리에 잘 있는지 조금 더 크진 않았는지 애정을 가지고 봐주세요.

어느 곳에 있든 (햇빛이 잘 들지 않는 곳에서조차) 그 공간을 밝혀주는 빛 같은 존재가 되어주길 바랍니다.

But I began to wonder if buying and killing plants for my own enjoyment was really doing both me and the plants a favor.

Are there plants that can be grown even if you are not good at growing them?

Based on this idea, the keyword of this work is "no light."

What if there were a plant that would not wither even without light?

What if there was a plant you could grow affectionately without having to grow water, soil, wind, and so on?

Whenever I have time, I search for various materials, observe, and study.

And I sketch while imagining what it will look like to grow into a plant.

I create plant shapes over a long period of time using methods

such as knitting and sewing that fit the material.

Find pots and stones that match the finished plants and complete the work.

What I want to say to the person collecting my work.

Thank you for being the caretaker of the everlasting plant.

This plant does not photosynthesize. Avoid direct sunlight because the leaves change color, etc.

It does not need watering. It does not need nutrients or changing the pot.

However, please be sure to grow it with love and make sure it grows a little bigger.

It will brighten up your space even in places where there is no sunlight.
